Complete Kitchen Transformation in Montclair

"From dated galley to open-concept entertainer's kitchen"

Montclair, NJ
8 weeks
Full gut renovation

The Challenge

The homeowners had a closed-off galley kitchen with poor lighting, outdated appliances, and limited counter space. They wanted an open-concept layout that connected to their dining area while maximizing storage and natural light.

The Approach

A load-bearing wall was removed (with proper engineering and permits), plumbing was relocated for a center island with prep sink, custom shaker cabinetry with soft-close hardware was installed, along with quartz countertops with waterfall edge and a full tile backsplash. Electrical was upgraded to support a 48" range and under-cabinet LED lighting.

The Result

The finished kitchen features 40% more counter space, a 10-foot island with seating for four, and a seamless flow into the dining room. The project was completed on schedule with zero change orders.

"From the initial demolition down to the studs to the final coat of paint in our new kitchen, we have no complaints. The work crews were professional, polite and very competent, often going out of their way to make sure every detail was taken care of."

— Stan Gregory

Spa-Inspired Master Bath in Short Hills

"A cramped 1990s bathroom becomes a modern spa retreat"

Short Hills, NJ
5 weeks
Master bathroom gut renovation

The Challenge

The existing master bathroom had a small shower stall, a dated vanity, and vinyl flooring. The homeowners wanted a spa-like experience with a walk-in shower, freestanding tub, and heated floors — all within the existing footprint.

The Approach

The layout was reconfigured to accommodate a curbless walk-in shower with linear drain, a freestanding soaking tub, and a double vanity with custom cabinetry. Radiant floor heating was installed under large-format porcelain tile. All plumbing was replaced with PEX, and a new exhaust fan with humidity sensor was added.

The Result

The finished bathroom feels twice its original size thanks to the open shower design and floor-to-ceiling tile. Heated floors and a rain showerhead create the spa experience the homeowners wanted.

"They gutted and renovated both of our bathrooms and the kitchen and did an absolutely sensational job. They are the complete package — communication, quality and competitive pricing!"

Dental Office Buildout in Parsippany
Commercial Buildout

Dental Office Buildout in Parsippany

"From bare shell to a fully operational 4-operatory dental practice"

Parsippany, NJ
10 weeks
Full dental suite buildout from shell

The Challenge

A dentist opening a second location needed a complete buildout from bare shell — including specialized plumbing for operatories, lead-lined walls for X-ray rooms, medical-grade HVAC, and full ADA compliance. The timeline was tight: the lease was signed and every week of construction was a week of lost revenue.

The Approach

A detailed pre-construction plan was created in coordination with the dentist's equipment suppliers. Specialized plumbing was roughed in for 4 operatories with vacuum and compressed air lines. Lead-lined drywall was installed in the X-ray room. All inspections passed on the first attempt — 15 years of code expertise and relationships with local inspectors kept the project moving without delays.

The Result

The practice opened on schedule. Four fully equipped operatories, a sterilization room, reception area, and private office — all built to code and ADA compliant. The dentist was seeing patients within two weeks of the final walkthrough.

"Best Carpenters does excellent building and renovation work, high quality and they are on top of all the trends and best products. Serhiy is a pleasure to work with, always responsive and ensuring the work gets done in a timely manner."

Complete Fire Rebuild in Wayne

Complete Fire Rebuild in Wayne

"From devastation to a home that's better than the original"

Wayne, NJ
14 weeks
Structural rebuild after house fire

The Challenge

A house fire caused significant structural damage to the second floor and smoke/water damage throughout. The homeowners were overwhelmed — dealing with insurance adjusters, temporary housing, and the emotional toll of losing their home. They needed someone to take over the entire process.

The Approach

Emergency mitigation began within 48 hours — boarding up, water extraction, and mold prevention. The insurance adjuster was coordinated with directly on scope and pricing. The rebuild included new framing, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, insulation, drywall, and complete interior finishing. The homeowners received weekly updates with progress photos and a shared timeline.

The Result

The family moved back into a home that exceeded their expectations. New kitchen, updated bathrooms, modern electrical throughout, and better insulation than the original build. Insurance covered the full scope because everything was documented properly from day one.

"Best Carpenters were professional, accommodating and we were very happy with their quality of work. We are already planning our next home project using Best Carpenters."

Second-Story Addition in Summit

Second-Story Addition in Summit

"Growing family, same lot — a full second story added without moving"

Summit, NJ
16 weeks
Full second-story addition

The Challenge

A growing family needed more space but loved their neighborhood and didn't want to move. They wanted to add a second story — master suite, two kids' bedrooms, and a full bathroom — while continuing to live in the home during construction.

The Approach

The addition was engineered to work with the existing foundation (with reinforcement). A temporary weather-tight roof was installed before removing the existing roof to protect the first floor. Construction was phased to minimize disruption — the family lived downstairs throughout. An architect coordinated on the exterior design to match the neighborhood aesthetic.

The Result

The addition added 1,200 square feet of living space: a master suite with walk-in closet, two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a laundry room. The exterior blends seamlessly with the original home and the neighborhood. The family never had to move out.

"Remodeled my kitchen and were able to give me everything I wanted. They even worked with me to shave some money off the budget. Oleg and his crew were top notch."

Architect-Designed Whole-Home Renovation in Ridgewood

"Bringing an architect's vision to life — on time and on budget"

Ridgewood, NJ
20 weeks
Full interior renovation per architect's plans

The Challenge

An architect designed a complete interior renovation for a 1920s colonial — open floor plan, custom millwork, modern systems, and period-appropriate details. They needed a builder who could execute complex architectural details without cutting corners or inflating costs.

The Approach

The build followed the architect's construction documents directly, with weekly coordination meetings. The in-house carpentry team handled all custom millwork — crown molding profiles, built-in cabinetry, and a custom staircase railing. Potential issues were flagged during pre-construction review, saving the client time and money during the build.

The Result

The finished home is exactly what the architect designed. Every detail was executed as specified — from the custom millwork profiles to the period-appropriate hardware. The project came in on budget with only minor architect-approved adjustments.

"I am an architect and we have used Best Carpenters on two kitchen jobs. They were excellent. We will be using them again in the future and highly recommend them."
